Sangini Mahila Sanstha (SMS) is a community organisation (CO) of brothel, street and home based sex workers in Navi Mumbai region of Maharashtra State in India. The regions is spread across two districts of Thane and Raigad.
SMS, founded in 2009, is registered under the Maharashta Societies Registration Act, 1860 and supports 824 women in sex work.
SMS aim to arrest new infections of HIV/STI in the community.
To achieve its aim of preventing new infections among the sex worker commuity, SMS implements a range of activities.
SMS envisions that all members have access to benefits from social entitlements and schemes, start saving for financial security, access formal institutional credit for alternate livelihoods, and have better supportive mechanisms to address crisis and violence.
