Shakti Mythri Mahila Sangham (SMMS) is a community organisation (CO) working to empower the communities of female sex workers in Ananthapuramu district in Andhra Pradesh State in India. The CO is a collective of women in sex work mobilised to fights for their rights and face crises together. It is a district level federation of community based groups of sex worker women accessing financial and social security, and crisis management services.
Registered in 2006 under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2001, SMMS supports 1455 female sex workers.
SMMS aims to gain equality for the community by providing services without self-interest and working voluntarily.
SMMS realises the spirit of its work captured in its name 'Shakti Mythri Mahila Sangham' - 'shakti' meaning power and 'mythri', friendliness with other communities - through a host of services for its members.
SMMS envisions for every community member to avail all social protection schemes from the government and enjoy their human rights.
