Introduction

Krishna Vennela Mahila Society (KVMS) is a community organisaiton (CO) of marginalised women in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh State in India. It was founded in 2006 to empower marginalised women through holistic development intervention programmes such as women empowerment & economic development through microfinance, livelihood promotion through skill training, facilitating access to government schemes, and providing HIV/AID prevention & care, and legal aid and counselling services.

KVMS is registered under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2001 and supports a total of 2799 women in sex work.

Mission

KVMS aims to become a community organisation with enough resources to be self sustainable and address the needs of the community members to help them live a healthy, crisis free life that is financially and socially secure.

  • Enhancing livelihood options through skill training
  • Promoting free legal aid clinics
  • Facilitating crisis redressal through para legal volunteers
  • Providing HIV/AIDS prevention and care services
  • Establishing an effectively functioning unified help desk
  • Sensitising and building awareness on issues of gender, consumer rights, child marriage, child rights, anti-trafficking and the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act.

KVMS's vision is to have an empowered collective of members and their partners with effective leadership qualities leading financially secure and healthy lives.
