Introduction

Swagati Sneha Sangam (SSS) founded in 2008 is a community organisation (CO) of female sex workers in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh State in India. Its founding objective was to sustain the HIV prevention activities among key population groups and their empowerment.

The CO supports 933 members with its services and is registered under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2001.

Mission

Swagati aims to empower all community members to lead healthy lives that are socially and financially secure by 2020.

Services Provided

SSS services focuses on empowering its members to lead better lives.

  • Supporting the community to better access and utilise the social protection schemes from the government
  • Building financial literacy of members, including knowledge on savings products, to help them lead financially secure lives
  • Helping members better access safety, security and justice measures
  • Provide HIV prevention and care services
  • Strengthening community organisations through increased resource mobilisation
  • Identifying the problems of the community regularly to respond better to their needs
  • Developing the linkages with government and non-government stakeholders for better effectiveness of its programme

Swagati envisions an improved quality of life for all its members, wherein they access social protection measures, are financially secure and utilise the safety, security and justice measures for a crisis free life.
