Shri Mahila Sadikaratha Welfare Society (SMSWS) is a community organisation (CO) of female sex workers in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh State in India. It works to address the developmental needs of its members through livelihood and civic initiatives and to create a distinct identity for itself as a community institution that is owned, managed and run by the community.
Founded in 2008, SMSWS is registered under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2001. It supports 5100 women in sex work through its various activities.
SMSWS aims to empower women woh are poor, destitute, widowed or HIV/AIDS affected and their family members through various development intervention programmes.
SMSWS reaches out to its sex worker members with a variety of services.
In addition to the above, SMSWS has entrepreneurship activities in Cherukupalli block and four paper making unit in various sites in Guntur, which employs 12 women.
SMSWS hopes that in the next five years, all its members are independent and financially and socially secure; lead healthy lives, avail government schemes and are able to care for their children well.
